Caeli vs Astrid and Miyu | An Honest Comparison

HONEST COMPARISON

Caeli vs Astrid and Miyu

Two demi-fine jewelry brands. One built around piercing studios and ear stacking. One built around a single base metal and editions of 100.

QUICK VERDICT

If you want piercing services and an ear stacking specialty, Astrid and Miyu is hard to beat, especially if you are in the UK or near one of their studios. If you want one base metal across the whole line and closed-collection scarcity, that is what Caeli does.

Materials

Caeli Astrid and Miyu
Primary base metal 316L surgical steel, across every piece Recycled sterling silver or plated brass, depending on the piece
Finish 14K gold plating 18k gold plating
Recycled materials Not claimed Yes, recycled sterling silver on part of the range
Piercing jewelry Not offered Yes, a dedicated titanium piercing line

Astrid and Miyu's base metal varies by piece: some of the range is 18k gold over recycled sterling silver, some is plated brass. Where the base is recycled sterling silver, that is generally regarded in the trade as a more precious construction than gold plating over stainless steel, and sterling can be re-plated by a jeweler years later where steel cannot. Caeli is 14K gold plating over a 316L surgical steel base on every piece.

Neither brand publishes a first-party plating specification, so there is nothing to compare on that front and we make no claim that our finish outlasts theirs. The true difference is consistency versus range: with Caeli you know the base metal before you pick a piece, and our base is stainless steel rather than brass.

Brand identity

Caeli Astrid and Miyu
Origin Designed in the US, made in China UK based, London piercing studios
Physical retail None Multiple piercing studios, mostly UK
Brand voice Quiet luxury, restrained Modern, trend forward, seasonal collections
Review volume Building, early stage Large, long established review base

Astrid and Miyu has the brand equity, physical retail piercing service, and review volume that comes with scale. Caeli is at an earlier stage of brand building, with no physical retail and a more restrained voice. If you want to walk into a London studio and have a piece fitted, Astrid and Miyu is the unique offer. If you want a quieter brand that works in closed collections, Caeli is.

Production model

Astrid and Miyu runs a standard open catalogue with seasonal collections and restocks. Caeli runs closed collections of around 100 pieces per design, then permanently retires the design. If owning a piece from a finite run matters to you, that is Caeli's angle.

When to choose Caeli

Pick Caeli if

You want one base metal across the whole line rather than a material that changes piece by piece. You want a water resistant everyday piece that is designed to resist tarnish. You like the closed collection scarcity story, around 100 pieces per design. You prefer a quieter, slower brand voice over trend driven seasonal releases. You are not near a UK studio and have no need for in-person piercing services. You want a 30 day free US return.

When to choose Astrid and Miyu

Pick Astrid and Miyu if

You want in-person piercing services, especially if you are in the UK. You want a deep ear stacking specialty with curated stacks designed by piercing artists. You value the credibility of a very large review base. You prefer an 18k gold finish, and where the base is recycled sterling silver, the more precious of the two constructions. You want recycled materials in the piece.
