Every Caeli piece is made from 316L surgical steel, the same grade used in pacemakers and orthopedic implants, finished with 14K gold plating roughly 2.5 microns thick (25 to 50 times thicker than standard fashion plating). Yes. Caeli jewelry is designed to handle daily exposure to water, sweat, and humidity without tarnishing. You can shower, work out, and wear your pieces in the rain. We recommend rinsing with fresh water after chlorinated pool or saltwater exposure to preserve the gold plating over time. See our Care Guide for full details.

Per the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, the term vermeil is reserved for gold over a sterling silver base. Our base is stainless steel, not sterling silver, so we use the accurate term, 14K gold plated stainless steel. Many brands use vermeil incorrectly. We do not.
